This afternoon I decided to experiment with recording drums. Usually when I record drum tracks for my songs I tap out a kick and snare beat on my keyboard... it's kinda lame, but often doesn't actually sound too bad because the drumkit voice is decent. I've been meaning to experiment with drums. With my interface I can record 8 separate tracks/channels at once. Unfortunately I need an education on drum microphones.
Reasons the experiment failed:
- crappy drums
- wrong microphones
- I am not much of a sound technician
- I forgot about an event happening at church @ 2:00... (so I had to quit early)
In my rush to wrap things up I only got beats laid down for two songs. I'll toy around with the eq and levels to see what I can do to salvage the sound.
I'll be back on Monday to try the whole thing again....
Tonight some guys are coming over to watch game 4 of the Stanley Cup... I've been able to watch games 1 and 2, but missed 3 Wednesday for worship rehearsal. We're gonna BBQ afterwards. Go WINGS!
